The Myers Briggs Personality Test - 1278 Words

We all are created equally yet we all uniquely different. Our culture, lifestyle, habits, family and life experiences shape us into who we are and why we do some of the things we do. With these differences in us, conflicts are bound to happen with any formed relationship we have between family and co-workers. I believe this is the reason, amongst others, why the Myers-Briggs personality test was created; to understand diversity and help us learn and become better individuals to the world at large. This paper evaluates the results of my Myers-Briggs test and how it applies in my personal life and career. Furthermore, I discuss what I have learned and how it it would benefit me in the future. ïÆ' ¼Needs work The Myers-Briggs personality test is designed to categorize human personality and behavior. Based on Carl Jung’s theory, Katherine C. Briggs and her daughter, Isabel Briggs-Myers developed this process which includes 16 personality types to help people understand their psychological personality type (The Myers Briggs Foundation, 2016). Each personality type is represented by four letters, and the letters are indicators of which category of preference an individual fall into. Step I: The Result After taking the personality test, my result turned out to be ESFJ. ESFJ stands for Extravert, Sensing, Feeling and Judging respectively. Challenges of Project Management-Free-Samples-Myassignmenthelp.com

Question: What Challenges Do Project Managers Face when Estimating Project Costs? What Tools And Techniques Can Project Managers use to Ensure that their Estimates Are Accurate? Answer: Challenges faced by the production managers when estimating production cost: The project managers today encounter challenges while estimating production cost in the manufacturing companies. The following are the main challenges these managers face today: Complex production process: The manufacturing projects companies today carry about have become very complex, which in turn makes the project cost estimation very challenging. For example, the multinational companies like Microsoft manufacture both hardware and software. There are certain item, which includes both goods and services. Computers attracts both costs associated with the physical hardware and services like engineering and installation. Thus, project managers in these companies face problems while estimating the production costs due to presence of multiple items and their complex role in the production process (Kerzner, 2013) . Global expansion of business operations: The companies, especially the global companies today operate in multiple countries and manufacturing scores of products, which makes their production process extremely complex. The multinational companies are present in hundreds of country having different currencies. Thus, the production cost estimation involves converting and expressing these diverse production related transactions into the currency of the home country of the company(Schwalbe, 2015). For example, GBP/USD exchange closing rate was 1.32 on October 26, 2017 1.31 on October 27, 2017 and on October 28, 2017. This changing exchange rate requires project managers to adjust the cost of production according to the rates. Secondly, the companies today manufacture multiple and diverse products, using complex production methods. These issues make it challenging for the project managers while estimating the cost of production (Walker, 2015). Tools project managers can use to make accurate project cost estimates: The project managers require making accurate project cost estimation so that there is neither shortage nor wastage of resources, both of which cause loss to the companies. The following are tools and techniques, which project managers can use to make accurate estimation: Analogous estimation- The techniques refers to conducting analysis of previous projects of similar nature to estimate the costs of the current project. These techniques can also be used effectively by project managers of big companies with history of doing vast numbers of diverse projects (Leach, 2014). Expert judgement estimation- The project management experts take decisions regarding project cost estimation. This technique is helpful when the project is unique and has no previous analogous counterpart. However, it consultancy charges of the project experts adds to the project costs (Mir Pinnington, 2014). Response to post 1: The project managers try to estimate the accurate costs of the projects but that is not always possible because uncertainty is an indispensible component of project. Estimation of future cost have to consider the uncertainties like change in laws, economic conditions and more challenging projects from competitors to make better products. The project managers can adopt to effective cost estimation tools. The first tool is analogous estimating method, which is largely applicable for big companies bearing history of diverse projects. The project managers here consult the past projects of similar types to estimate costs of projects. Another advantage is that the project manager can also refer to the project execution methods of those past projects. The second project estimation tool project managers use is to work breakdown structure. They break down the total project into parts, which help in successful execution of the projects. The project managers can also use templates and project c harters to execute and control projects. Accurate project drawings allow project managers to foresee the tasks which they have execute. Response to post 2: The project managers require monitoring three constraints while managing projects namely, scope, budget and time. There are several challenges project managers face while estimating the costs of the projects. The most significant factors consists the dynamic nature of the market which keeps on changing and prevents project managers from making accurate estimates, the lack of analogous projects, lack of appropriate resources in the host markets, uncertainties like natural calamities and ever changing expectations of the clients. The risks of accidents, machine breakdown and conflict also impede the projects (Leach, 2014). The project managers today adopt several tools to estimate the costs of the projects, as one technique is not suitable for all projects. A very effective tool of estimating project cost is expert advice. The experts have knowledge of diverse nature and ca advice the companies appropriately. The big multinational companies having history of handling diverse projects can refer to their own past projects to estimate project costs. This technique is called analogous estimation. The project managers can also use software to control flow of projects and make estimates (Mir Pinnington, 2014). References: Kerzner, H. Cross Cultural Management Essays

Cross Cultural Management Essays Cross Cultural Management Essay Cross Cultural Management Essay Human Resource Management Study on â€Å"Cross Cultural Management And Organizational Performance† Group Members: Dhrumit Punmiya (101312)Manan Pamani (10132) Nikita Goyal (101330) Acknowledgement Index Introduction: The world has become an integrated place- a person driving a BMW to his office in Hyderabad wearing an Italian suit, a Swiss watch, working for a client in U. S. This is a common trend that is now observed across majority of the organizations. Many multinational companies providing high quality products and services need dynamic workforce to manage the activities of the organization. So, people from different cultures, backgrounds, interests, behaviour and values as proposed by their culture interact with each other and form a part of the organization. This has resulted into many multi-cultural challenges faced by the international organizations at employee level. So, it results into the need for management of such diverse workforce in the organization which gives rise to the concept of Cross Cultural Management. Cross Cultural Management refers to the management practice of managing the cultural differences between the different people of the organization in order to ensure smooth communication for achievement of the organizational objectives. There are many strategic alliances in today’s global economy of the world which gives rise to the need of establishing intercultural competencies to form strong working relationships with subordinates, business associates and clients. There is a need for individuals of different cultures and nationalities work together as a team and share their knowledge and do not entangle themselves with cultural isputes and differences. For this, there has to be a harmony between them as well as understanding of and respect for each other’s culture and values. The organizational performance could be enhanced greatly if the varied knowledge pool of resources from people with different backgrounds could be integrated effectively by managing the differenc es between them. Literature Review In an interview on Global HR issues by Martin Moehrle, working as a Chief Learning Officer, he found the major challenge is bringing about the cultural integration in a multinational organization. Further, he elaborated on the importance of culture across a global organization and its implications on its performance. He said that behaviour in the organization is guided by a strong culture which attracts and retains talent that fits with the organizational culture and thus drives performance. According to him, it is important for the successful performance of the organization to turn the cultural diversity into a source of inspiration by added ideas, approaches and perspectives by managing it well so that it does not become a source of conflict as conflict,[] if constructively handled, does not pose a problem. ] according to a research on cross cultural management in China, Again, one of the important criteria for organizational performance is the choice of an appropriate mode of entry in different countries as a part of its strategic decision. So, the organization has to take into consideration the risk assosiated with the cultural difference between the host and the target c ountry, thus emphasizing the importance of creatively managing this cross cultural issue. [] Research Gap and Questions Though considerable amount of study has been done in the subject of Cross Cultural Management, but there is a still a need to understand the importance of linkage between effective cross cultural management and the organizational performance, as not much study has been done in this context. Also, there is a need to identify some techniques which can lead to a model that can be applied, with some variations if needed, to multinational organizations for enhancing their performance. Thus, in the wake of the above identified gap, we would like to examine the following research questions: 1. Can effective Cross Cultural Management lead to better performance of an organization? 2. Can some specific set of measures be defined for effective cross cultural management? 3. What are the implications for the managers for formulating the strategies for the organization? Conclusions and Learnings: On the basis of the above study, we conclude that managers should understand the importance of effectively and creatively managing the issues arising due to the differences in the culture of the various stakeholders of the organization, especially the employees.

JUDICIAL ACTIVISM BY EUROPEAN COURT OF JUSTICE Essay

JUDICIAL ACTIVISM BY EUROPEAN COURT OF JUSTICE - Essay Example In case of ambiguities in the text of the Treaties, ECJ has to employ its creative talents so as to accomplish an acceptable elucidation and application of Community law. ECJ has filled in the gaps and removed the imprecision in the provinces of Community law thereby removing the barrier of restricted jurisdiction and is able to develop its authority and role. The main aim of this research essay will be analysing in detail the activist strategy of the ECJ which appears to have initiated some courageous and bold efforts to establish a constitutional cornerstone for the EU2. â€Å"What is Judicial Activism?† Judicial activism connotes to the keenness of the courts to establish public policy if a State, and its political institutions is reluctant to do the same or may not in a position to execute the same. In real parlance, it can be called as the shifting of judicial decision making privileges from the administrative and legislative process to the courts. It is a well known fact that judicial activism at ECJ refers the political consequences of the policy preferences employed by the Court in its elucidation or interpretation role. Judicial activism may compel a court to function as legislators, or it can be referred as ‘judicialisation of politics3’. There is a need for judicial activism in EU as the language of the Treaty is not supportive and so the Courts require to establish some cannons so as to fill in a â€Å"procedural hole.† Language and Interpretation of EU Law It is to be observed that EC law cannot be comprehended without recognising its multilingual personality into account. While applying or interpreting Community laws, the peril of swerving meanings between various versions and the equal legitimacy of all language versions of community provisions. As there are about 23 working and authentic languages employed in the EU institutions, there is enormous strain on the EU’s translating services. Further, it is to be obs erved that daily application and interpretation of Community regulations actually occurs in various and different tribunals and courts of the Member States. ECJ employed teleological approach in cases where intellectual property is involved even when its relevance contravenes the precise and explicit factual meaning of clearly expressed words as it held in the case Davidoff & Cie SA v Gofkid Ltd4. General Activism As early as in 1963, in Van Gend en Loos5 case, it was held by ECJ that cannons of the Treaty could have a direct impact. Thus, the direct effect offers an individual citizen right to sue national government in their own national courts for not willing to implement the treaty6. In this case, the Court viewed that the Treaty is not an agreement and it more than that which establishes mutual responsibilities between the Contracting States, besides, the Community establishes a new legal setup of international law for the advantage of which the States have restricted their aut onomous authority, despite within the restricted grounds. In the above case, ECJ created the doctrine of direct effect thereby restricting national courts from proclaiming the illogicalness of Community law. In Foto-Frost7 case, ECJ viewed that national courts do not have authority to invalidate the community law even though it is having such authority. In Costa v ENEL8, it was held by ECJ that EC law has primacy over the national laws. In this case, ECJ supremacy doctrine was established ,which connote that State transfers of legal authority were irrevocable and imposes a long -lasting restriction on sovereign

Step analysis for Cadburys in India The word chocolate has been traced back in ancient times from central America -civilizations Aztec and Maya ,Chocolate made from roasted cocoa beans was mostly enjoyed and relished all over the history as a drink . In ancient times as the expensive cocoa were gifted when a newly born arrives in a family or any religious occasions. Even the traders used to exchange it for jade, clothes etc., till recent times the chocolate has been just the plain chocolate. However Sir Hans Sloane an English doctor brought chocolate milk recipe from South America to England. According to his recipe the original Cadbury milk chocolate was prepared, later it was sold to the Cadburys. The cocoa crillo is harvested only 10% world wide, 90% of it is hybrid and from forestero trees and varieties are produced mainly in West Africa. The hottest region is the right soil to grow this plantation for cocoa. The procedure to prepare chocolate are: Harvest Fermentation Drying Cleaning Roasting Crushing and shelling Blending Grinding Cocoa butter Cocoa powder Kneading Rolling Conching In Birmingham 1824 at bull street England, John Cadbury used to do vending for coffee, tea and drinking chocolate. He started to concentrate on the chocolate drinks and beverages. He was also appointed as the Royal by the queen. He also shifted from the tea business stopped the tea shipment and started importing cocoa into UK. He tried so many different varieties. Although it was economically not an easy price to the consumer so he had a tie up with his brother and started his venture into Cadburys chocolate making business. One of the best inventions in the confectionary industry was Cadburys Dairy Milk which was a moulded chocolate and was introduced in 1905 although after so many brands with leading chocolate companies the Dairy Milk shows 95 years later a success and recognition. Step Analysis Social: The story of Cadbury dairy milk started in 1905 at Bourneville UK but the journey with chocolate lovers in India began in 1948. The UK confectioner Kraft foods and Cadburys had a deal in the business and they wanted to enter the international market. However they targeted a little tough market which I could say as India could not accept any foreign products so easily but still as C.Y.Pal non executive chairman of Cadbury India quotes India is a very happy story for Kraft and Cadbury. Kraft was initially trying hard with its products to put-up on the shelfs in a market store like tobolerone, milka, cheese, Oreo cookies etc although all were under one umbrella. Indians could not accept it so easily. More than 60 yrs has been passed Cadburys has now become the countries biggest confectioner. The barriers it had leaped and came up with different products in chocolates, drinks, gums, candies etc was appreciatiable. The Indian customer no matter how advanced or sophisticated they m ight be the traditional culture of mithai could not replace the chocolates Indians have a massive sweet tooth but its filled with mithai but not chocolate says (Ramesh Srinivas executive director of KPMG Advisory services India) even huge multinational company like Cadburys could not crack the market as the consumption of chocolate in India is 54gms per captia. Cadburys worked out with amul to make mithai and add chocolate like Indo Western style but it did not attract customers so Cadbury did intensive research and started promoting through different media and hit the slogan just for kids in 90s. Later on they shifted to the campaign for teenagers who shared the real taste of life, memorable instances which stayed in everyones life like a girl dancing in the cricket field this campaign was awarded the campaign of century in India. From here they targeted the campaign of consumption of chocolates amongst adults which was portrayed by Mr. Amitabh Bachan were different relations, spec ial moments, festive occasions, reunions were showed with happiest moments with a slogan kuch meeta ho jaya this is an excellent technique of reaching the Indian cultural barrier of mithai the promotion of Cadbury cleverly put up to equalize a chocolate and a mithai. Technological Cadburys entered the Indian market where people could recognize the brand only with a purple cover. Technically the taste of the Indians in the food or confectioners are different so the varieties that Indians crave about the purple cover should not be just the Dairy Milk so they came up with fruits and nuts, crackle, roast almond which were very famous in youth and adults to attract the kids they started with goodies and rewards with the purchase of Cadbury chocolate. The approach through media with best quality and mind lingering advertisements were done by the creative team who held up the Cadbury chocolate as luxury compared to other small confectioners in India. The punch lines used with Indians own famous game cricket the sport was also enhanced. People started liking the marketing strategy and the campaigning and it dominated 70% of the share market. The snack time in the evenings was a huge market in India they came up with Cadburys bytes. Cadbury has maintained high quality and value for money it also made Cadbury dairy milk as a dessert with slogan something sweet after meal and for kids the wowie chocolate with Disney characters embossed in it. The 2in 1 dairy milk a combination of white chocolate and milk chocolate. Economic The Cadburys and Krafts acquisition was priced but they individually grew on their strength in most of the countries. Krafts is the key market globally when they ventured together but in India they started leaning on Cadburys more, so it was ahead in confectionary business. The nestle was very far distant as number 2 when compared Cadbury .According to the marketing research firm-AC.Nelson Cadbury brand with milk addictive bourn vita has earned 70% of Indias market and earned us$425 million and 30% of sugar boiled confectionary category with us$1 billion i.e., 30%of it. The network of business selling its product across India is 1.2 billion shops as India is still agrarian society although the number of super markets or hyper markets are more the food is still bought at neighborhood stores called kirana shops. No matter Cadbury tried launching its first apple drink, dollops ice-cream, and the Indian customer recognizes the purple color as Cadburys brand. Cadbury had to change purchas ing price in India when globally it was around 10% with inclusion of interest, and taxes etc., and 27% margin was paid by krafts. The low prices with which Cadbury had the foothold in India and also business technique of the retailers in India to do business on daily working capital and fast moving products only and this increased the marketing strategy by segregating their products into different lines like gums, chocolates, mints, drinks, etc., Even if foreign markets would like to put up their confectionaries the pricing would be a big criteria and loss. The localization strategy has been adopted though slower but the products are made to the Indian customers taste. Most of the retailers do not have refridgirators, so they came up with mini packs which with-stand the heat of India with retaining the chocolate inside without any outer influence in dairy milk products. The costing of the packaging was 50 cents earlier it is costing 4 cents now. This strategy has helped the retailer s and the consumer and they were happy as Cadbury has been maintaining, quality, price and adapting Indian consumers taste. This has been amendable and kept the pace of making Indian customer to think that the value for money has been maintained and satisfied according to the Indian culture and taste. Political The worlds biggest confectionary across the globe had stepped into India with mouth watering brand the Cadbury chocolate. Although it took 60 years to register in the Indian market it employed 50,000across the globe says in 60 countries. They had a slogan in India creating brands people love. It also worked with Indian government in development of cocoa cultivation; it did also conduct research in kerala the agricultural university and educated the farmers. And right now its operating four categories in India like chocolate confectionaries, milk food drinks, gums and candies. Salmonella scare was biggest threat to the Cadbury Schweppes seven products globally. Salmonella is bacteria which was caused by a leaking pipe it might have occurred while the mixture of chocolate crumb was taking place at marl brook chocolate plant which is made into milk chocolate. This was not stated to the food standard agency as it had to get the stock back of one million chocolate bars and this contamination of bacteria costed them threat to health and they were charged 30 million pounds. They were with cases of 6 charges against them for breaching health and safety legislation but they took the step and retained the entire stock. The commitment to environment was the water conservation with unique new techniques at Bangalore factory; it started using solar energy to reduce the carbon di oxide and also driving towards the global warming. There was a major issue of child labour in south Africa with cocoa cultivation as its the 90%of worlds biggest producers and they fought for it. They also created and supported needs for underprivileged children. They started spreading smiles on the innocent faces not only with mouth lingering Cadbury chocolate but also good quality for any person in need. Methodology The gold standard is the consideration which is defined for chocolate in India for Cadburys. The brand which was a deal stuck with kraft foods did lot of international business however, when they stepped into India, Kraft had to depend on Cadburys in the market. Where a culturally different customer did not accept krafts brands, after a slow persuasion the purple covered product that is Cadburys has taken over 70% of confectionary market in the long journey of 60 years. The excellent marketing strategies which they used to register and connecting to Indian values through slogans which touched Indian customers heart and brought smile on their face from a kid to adults. The strategy was proven brand loyaltys best example with customer centric business. Although it did not realize to go with customers taste previously they faced lot of setbacks. Conclusion The taste of life a slogan which connected the people for a a long decade itself shows how the product has emerged as no.1 most trusted in Mumbai in India. It also is considered as marketing leader who changed the taste of India. Cadbury did not step back with the nutritional elements in its product line. The candies and gumbs have been strategically registered in a Childs mind also giving the difference the salty bytes and sweet bytes. Cadburys bytes like snacks to Cadbury chocolate varieties. The quality. The value, the purpose which drove lot of consumers to a brand with such immense loyalty and they have trusted the beautiful product which I can say that every generation has relished. And Cadburys had fought back with all the myths and giving facts of benefits from chocolate or rather creating world wide study of CHOCOLOGY.

Politics, Power, and Purpose in Shakespeares Measure for Measure Essay

Politics, Power, and Purpose in Shakespeare's Measure for Measure In Shakespeare's Measure for Measure, Vincentio, Duke of Vienna, observing that his Dukedom has fallen into licentiousness and chaos through his neglectful government, has pretended to leave Vienna and has turned over the government to Angelo, his upright and up-tight Deputy; and that the Duke has resolved to remain in Vienna, in disguise, so that he may observe how Angelo's character is revealed or transformed in the crucible of the power with which he has been invested. The Duke tells Friar Thomas, who is party to the plot: Lord Angelo is precise, Stands at a guard with envy, scarce confesses That his blood flows, or that his appetite Is more to bread than stone. Hence shall we see If power change purpose, what our seemers be. (1.3.5-54) My subject is how "power" changes--or at least influences--"purpose." But the "purpose" in question is not, as in the play, the government of a city or of a state, nor even (as in the case of Angelo) the government of one's psychological and physical appetites, but the creation of a work of art, of a theatrical performance. Talking about Angelo, the Duke poses his assertion as a conditional: he wishes to test "if power change purpose." My hypothesis is that, in the theatre, power does indeed change purpose. I base this hypothesis upon several premises: that the theatre, as a complex collaborative art form, depends upon the coordination of the talents and temperaments of a wide range of individuals; that, in the theatre, these individuals must be organized into a process which inescapably involves the establishment and articulation of power; that theatrical artists are, by their very nature, sensitive, e... ...ulates the other characters and, like a playwright, creates scenarios for them to play; etc., etc. I am, I believe, arguing something else altogether. The play is not alluding to its mode of performance to tell its story. The play and the performance are simply telling the same story: a story about the same power relationships that informed the process by which the performance was created. It's not that life is like the theatre. It's that the play and the performance and the theatre in general are built upon the raw materials of life: upon wayward human beings struggling to work together to live with one another in the world. The story that any production of Measure for Measure tells is that power, in the theatre as in life, changes purpose. Just as the Duke tests Angelo, when we go to the theatre, we go to see, "If power change purpose, what our seemers be."
